I have a small cam that I use to track my kid's movements while he drives his Duplo cars around. To do this, I built a holder for the cam so I could share it with others. The standard version of the holder stands two bricks high, but I also made a smaller one that fits on one brick. The camera itself came from eBay - specifically, it's called "The Smallest 720P HD Webcam Mini Camera Video Recorder Camcorder DV DVR Y3000". You're free to try this out and see how it works for your own kids' LEGO play.
