Leg Lamp Remixed
thingiverse
This model is a massive upgrade from the original, clocking in at 500% its size. Any modifications to the scale will render the screws and nuts obsolete, as they won't fit properly. This particular model stands an impressive 900mm tall, including the base and lamp shade. I've made some tweaks to this incredible model by jetpuf, and here's what I've changed: 1. The original design left the wire exposed between the arch of the heel and the base. To conceal it, I created a tunnel that neatly hides the wiring. 2. I added M4-sized nut inserts to the bottom of the shoe, ensuring they fit perfectly. To secure them in place, I applied a small amount of super glue before pushing the nuts in. If they don't fit at first, simply use an X-Acto knife to carefully trim the edges until they fit snugly – just remember to check before applying the glue. 3. I added inset holes to the base for M4 screws to be threaded through and screwed into the M4 nuts embedded in the bottom of the shoe, as mentioned earlier. 4. To minimize support material, I printed the thigh upside down. This allowed me to make the neck of the hole smaller so that I could cut threads for a 1/4" hollow threaded rod, which will be used to pass the power cable through. Although the thigh may still require some minimal supports, they're incredibly easy to add – simply drill out the hole if it's too small. To secure the rod in place, I applied super glue down its threads after screwing it in. If you're new to lamp-making like me, this project is a breeze! I used a kit similar to this one: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/atron-lamp-kit-with-harp-0523573p.0523573.html?gclid=Cj0KCQiAmsrxBRDaARIsANyiD1rpzR5XuhSCq6vr1oRlqXRh35b9K5FQuKenIC8zcPVB3qCS5x28vbcaAghLEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds#store=614 And watched this 3-minute video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B68Y4hjY_d0
