Leg for 1947 Admiral 30A12 television
thingiverse
I picked up an antique 1947 TV recently from our town dump, of all places. Initially, I was going to just use it for parts, but when I got it home I realized that it was worth restoring. However, it was missing its knobs, and also one "leg" along the bottom. The leg is part of a strip of wood that runs the length of one side of the cabinet. There is another one that is a mirror image that I could copy. I don't have the carpenter skills to just make another one, at least not easily, so I decided to print one instead. I scanned the mirror image one on my scanner and traced the shape of the strip of wood with graphics software. Then, I made lots of careful measurements and rendered the model. My printer (JG Aurora Magic, same size as an Ender 3) was too small, so I divided the "leg" into two parts that I could glue together. I used PLA filament that contains 30% real wood, which gives a nice color, and hopefully will accept a walnut stain. I'll upload an updated photo when that is done. Probably not something anyone else will want to print, but I thought it would be interesting to show what can be done. I've uploaded the 3D printed knob replacements as a separate "thing".
