Left wheelchair game controller
cults3d
I am sharing my design finally with the world. This design shape has allowed my brother to game on PC for a long time now. I did this project as part of my electrical engineering degree. Since then larger companies like Microsoft have been making adaptable game controllers such as Xbox: https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/accessories/controllers/xbox-adaptive-controller The user still requires the hardware to be able to reach the switches. That's why I'm sharing this design. WHO IS IT FOR: The shape of this controller allows somebody that has bicep movement and little tricep movement to access five buttons mounted on a wheelchair armrest. The middle is designed for a joystick that I wired into a micro arduino which then simulated keyboard presses. I have to charge for this because of the hours I put into designing the shape. TOOLS REQUIRED: THIS PRINT STILL REQUIRES SOME WORK TO FIT TO YOUR CHAIR and we didn't have the luxury of re-printing the model since we had it printed in a resin machine from a different country. Therefore you will have to drill holes for your buttons and maybe file (dremel) out the arm rest shape so that the model fits your wheelchair. Or you can modify the drawings. I used 123d Design. It's not supported anymore but I still use it. You can get it here: https://www.filehorse.com/download-autodesk-123d-design-64/download/ It crashes every time you exit. It's normal. HARDWARE: Thanks to Microsoft there is an alternative to using Arduinos with the link above. If your interested in the steps I took to designing this controller see the sourceforge link: https://sourceforge.net/projects/controllerforlimiteddexterity/ The shape is designed for: -3x Spec Switches https://www.ablenetinc.com/specs-switch/ -2x Jelly bean buttons https://www.ablenetinc.com/jelly-bean -1x square gate two axis joystick. (I don't know where to buy direct from. I used a joystick out of a remote control car) -1x Toggle Switch https://www.jaycar.com.au/12v-illuminated-toggle-green/p/ST0582?pos=4&queryId=3c42d192dbfe482dd5098860ea363a31&sort=relevance (Obviously up to you what you use - My brother can access this with his splint.) I aim on putting my latest code on github as I have done for the hackabrick controller. It's a bit hard because this code requires a lot of explanation. I'd be happy to talk to people on a case by case basis though. e: daniel.vant.sant@gmail.com
