Left Coast miniQuad
thingiverse
We're showcasing our 250 size miniQuad that we've been taking to the world. We've been operating a service where individuals who buy our kits can come to our shop to assemble them with our assistance. We then offer to get them airborne with their brand-new quads. It's been a very popular service but limited to our local area. Now, we're providing our quad frame design as a downloadable package here on the web. If you want to build it, we can provide the parts kits necessary to complete it off. (Not including camera systems; we sell those separately.) We also have an assembly manual in progress at http://leftcoast.biz/media/miniQuad/miniQuad%20assembly%20manual.pdf. 12/9/2015 Update: Added flip standoffs, which are tiny cones needed to secure your flight controller. Mounting them cone down reduces the footprint on the PCB so you don't crush any electrical components. It then widens at the top for holding with a #6-32 Nylock nut. Added 1/2 inch spacer. This is the spacer called out in the instructions for setting the depth of the locktite-ed in motor studs. Added stud tool, making it easier to secure stud-mounted motors by observing the instructions. Added Flip Base, allowing you to program a 30mm x 30mm flight controller by sitting it level on your desk much easier. 5/13/2016 Update: We've sold the Quadcopter part of our business, so we removed links to our online store as everything is out of stock. We'll update with the new owner's link once it's available. Print Settings MakerBot MakerBot Replicator 2 Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: Standard Infill: 20% Notes: RAFTS: Only the mini Pan and Lid are printed with rafts, needing to be oriented vertically. The raft is necessary for holding them to the print bed. Post-Printing Options There are three bottom plates here, depending on your FPV setup choice. mini FS bottom plate: This fits standard Fatshark Dominator goggles that almost everyone uses (the most popular option). mini FSSny bottom plate: This fits the Fatshark transmitter with the very popular Sony camera. mini Sny bottom plate: This fits the Skyzone transmitter with the Sony camera. We offer three different arms, mini Arm 2 is standard for all applications. If you want to install some Adafruit Neo Pixel sticks on your miniQuad: The upper body already has mounts built in for an Adafruit 8 LED stick tail light. IF you prefer to mount a pair of these 8 LED sticks on the forward arms, mini LED arm (Port) and mini LED arm (Starboard) are used for this. Adding an extra processor: For lights, autopilot, what have you. The Sony/Skyzone version has room to use the http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:729459 to mount an Adafruit pro trinket inside between the rear arms. Some examples of how we've set up for lights & second processor: The Pro Trinket: https://www.adafruit.com/product/2000 Light bars: https://vimeo.com/120994547 LIghts #2: https://vimeo.com/120866527 Police & floodlight: https://vimeo.com/120127973 The loops on the Lid: These are for pressing in standard LEDs; they fit perfectly as a light press fit.
