The standard pocket to catch spent primers is quite small and hard to remove the primers from. This design allows a small soda bottle to be screwed in, collecting spent primers for easy disposal. It can be a bit tricky to install the two screws that hold this in place, but it's doable and usually only needs to be done once. Some cheap water bottles don't thread on well, so I recommend using a name brand 20oz soda or pop bottle.
