LED Work Light bracket for Geeetech Prusa I3

The bracket enables you to attach two LED strips on the X carriage, so they illuminate the item being printed with precision. I'm utilizing Diatone LED strips, but any other LED strips specified for operation at 12 volts should function properly. You can find them here: http://www.banggood.com/Diatone-3-4S-LED-Decoration-Board-Strip-Set-For-250-Class-Frame-p-961260.html There are four LED strips in the item: white, red, green, and blue. I'll be utilizing only the white ones. Currently, they cost around $1.50 per unit (four LED strips) from one supplier. They're connected to the 12V fan power, which is always on. I might add a small switch so they can be turned off; they're incredibly bright! Each white LED strip draws 10 milliamps with 12 volts across it, resulting in a minimal additional current load. There are three items to print: the splint for stabilizing the two brackets, the left bracket found here, and the right bracket, which is a mirror image of the left bracket created at print time. The dark photo of the LED illumination may appear dim, but the exposure was reduced to make the light distribution more visible. It seems there will be ample lighting to observe the surface as it prints. EDIT 12/9/16 It took me some time to realize that the LEDs should be moved closer to the extruder for better illumination of the work. I added some washers that you can use with a longer screw to move the lights forward. Scale the Z axis to achieve the desired length, and also scale X&Y by 1.1 to ensure they fit without requiring filing. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa I3 Modified Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 mm layer Notes: No supports are required if plated as in one of the photos. I used PLA. Post-Printing Ordinary cleanup is all that's needed beyond that. The hole will probably require some cleaning since the top is bridged during printing. The small rectangular splint can be attached to one side only, preventing one or both LED panels from dropping into the work space if a screw comes loose. It can be attached after the panels are attached to the carriage or before mounting, provided only one side is glued. There should be a small space between the arms if the hole spacing is 30 mm. How I Designed This I used Sketchup Make 2016.
