LED Tree topper
thingiverse
Create a festive decoration using RGB self-changing LEDs by cutting parts from a 5mm acrylic sheet using a dxf file and a laser cutter. Assemble the star with five M3x20mm screws and mount it with two M3x16mm screws. Sand the top layer with 80 grit sandpaper for a frosted look. The LEDs are pre-programmed RGB fading color changers, not regular ones. Cut a perfboard disc to fit inside the star with 2mm clearance and align the anodes and cathodes on opposite sides before soldering the ends together in parallel. Power the LEDs with a 3V supply; a resistor is typically unnecessary.
