LED stripe support - M6
thingiverse
During winter, it's delightful to add some light! A friend provided me with 100mm LED strips from eBay at an affordable price (view them here). To connect the lights to my bot, I experimented with different shapes and eventually created a simple clip-on design for M6 rods, particularly for Huxley. Check out these videos: 4 seconds of on/off action (http://flic.kr/p/b8qHNk) and a 10-second video showcasing the illumination during printing (http://flic.kr/p/bbeQCD). To set up, simply print the LED strips to match your needs. Connect the positive terminal to 12V and the negative to RGB. Enjoy the brightness, but be cautious as your prints may get a tan! If using a 19V-fed eMaker, add a switch for easy turning off. Additionally, consider including a 180R resistor (thanks to smartroad's suggestion).
