LED Strip Holder
thingiverse
I created this LED strip holder because I needed an easier way to get more light on my prints without searching for a flashlight in my cluttered workspace whenever I wanted to inspect one. It's night and day, literally! The section holding the strip is 100mm long, making it simple to glue several together for a longer piece, especially when supported at both ends. I've also had success softening it with a heat gun and bending it around corners, although I haven't done this yet with this design. There are three files: one containing the entire part and two split versions for easier printing. Since the full part is quite tall and skinny, it can be tricky to print and becomes brittle if layer adhesion isn't excellent. I recommend printing the top and bottom parts separately and gluing them together after completion, rather than printing the entire piece at once. This should make printing faster and more likely to succeed. The holder fits tightly onto 1-inch extrusion and requires some practice to snap it into place correctly. I found it easiest to start with the bottom tab in the slot and then snap the top into position. Here's the LED strip lighting I'm using: https://www.amazon.com/SUPERNIGHT-Changing-Flexible-Remote-Control/dp/B00BP4DUMU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1519792426&sr=8-4&keywords=supernight+led+light+strip My printer uses a 24v power supply, so I simply cut the wire after the transformer and connected it directly to the printer.
