LED Strip 7 Segment

LED Strip 7 Segment

I had some extra 12-volt LED strips lying around and thought I would try to make my own seven-segment display out of them. I haven't used this in a circuit yet; need to get out the shift registers and transistors. But I have tested with my bench supply and it seems to work just fine. I suggest printing off a higher temperature plastic or soldering the connections before sticking them down. I made a mess out of the back of the print with my soldering iron because I printed in PLA. I had planned to use an RGB strip, but after thinking about wiring for that, I decided to do a less challenging version. This should work just fine with standard 5050 twelve-volt LED strips (each segment is one segment of that). You may want to consider running these LEDs at nine volts instead of twelve; they are very bright at twelve volts. https://www.instagram.com/p/BXd6xSoAbDG/
