LED Spinning Pen for Microlights
thingiverse
I'm really into spinning pens, and I always thought they would be way more awesome with LEDs. This is a "spinning pen" that's all about the spinning action, and not so much about being a real pen. It's basically just a mini baton, sized to fit standard nano size microlights in silicone cases. Theoretically, it could support other chip sizes too, but I only tested with Futuristic Lights LEDs, so your mileage may vary with different chips. You can buy these microlights online at various places, but I recommend buying from the official site to support them directly. If you're into gloving or orbits, you might already have some of these lying around! As for specs, this thing should be 210mm long and 10mm in diameter when scaled up 100%. I kept the LED housing super simple, and the chips can face out for visible bulbs or face in to light up the body. The balance seems pretty good either way, so you can even do asymmetrical spins for a really cool look! Just be patient getting the chip into the casing - it's a tight fit, but it'll stay put. I thought about selling these myself, but it just didn't seem right with the DIY spirit of the spinning pen community. I couldn't get production worked out either, so I figured I'd release it to the community instead. Feel free to remix and have fun with this design, just please don't use it for profit!
