I needed a ring light, so I decided to design and 3D print one. With my existing 3D Printer, it seemed like a great opportunity to create something new. I used Autodesk Fusion 360 to design the ring light. The project involved two main components: the body that holds the LED lights and the diffuser that distributes the light evenly. The outer diameter of the light is 180mm, which translates to about 7 inches in diameter. To print the parts, I followed these steps: 1. Printed one body part using black PLA with a layer height of 0.2mm. 2. Printed one diffuser part using white PLA also with a layer height of 0.2mm. 3. Printed a small nut in any desired color PLA. In addition to the 3D printed parts, I needed some additional components: 1. A USB 5v to 12v adapter 2. A female DC jack 3. White paper for use as a reflector 4. A horse shoe adapter These items can be sourced from eBay or Amazon.
