LED Panel Mount

LED Panel Mount

Coworker handed me a couple of these 500 LED panels with barn doors, but unfortunately he didn't have mounts for them, so I had to figure something out. As these panels are pretty old and of unknown manufacturer, I had to design my own mounting system for light stands from scratch. The mount consists of two 3D printed inserts and a bridge between them for a stronger connection. Both inserts and the bridge have holes where standard tripod 1/4" thread brass inserts were melted in with soldering iron. To assemble it, you install the inserts into the opening slide one by one, then move them into position. Next, screw the bridge to them using 1/4" 3/4 inch long bolts, which not only hold the bridge but also protrude on the other side preventing the mount from sliding freely. Finally, attach the bridge to the light or tripod mount that has a standard 1/4" thread. I've mounted lights on mini ball-heads capable of holding their weight, barely.
