LED Ornament Topper

This is the result of a collaboration between CCCKC Hackerspace and Hammerspace Hobby & Community Toolshop in Kansas City. A fun and quick 4 soldering point ornament insert was created by combining LED technology with innovative design elements. The LED cycles through multiple colors and modes during each on and off cycle, providing an engaging visual experience. To create this unique ornament topper, the team decided to keep it simple yet effective by printing the body using a single material and incorporating only two essential components: an LED and a battery holder. Copper wire was used to extend the leads, creating both an ornament hanger and an integrated switch. The project was designed as a holiday-themed gift that also serves as a learning tool for soldering techniques. We hope you enjoy it and feel free to customize it! The blank canvas design makes it easy to transform into various characters and uses. One idea is to leave one of the copper leads untrimmed, creating two swirls at the top that can be tapped together to function as a switch. Add some googly eyes and you'll have a reindeer; turn them upside down and create a Menorah with nine prints - the possibilities are endless! We encourage you to experiment with different designs and improve upon our creation. Feel free to let your imagination run wild! The design process involved using Autocad 123d, an application that allowed us to learn new skills while creating this project.
