Update 20180808 Error correction has taken place. Features: The ESP8266 WeMos D1 mini module now finally has a good application (you can buy better cheap ESPs online). Six LEDMatrix modules with MAX7219 drivers are used, supplied directly from the USB port using a USB plug. All data are synchronized every 7-8 minutes. Time and date are taken from google.com. Weather information is grabbed from openweather.org's JSON API. In the future, other news and info grabbing can be possible. No hardware RTC clock is necessary. Internal temperature and humidity sensors (options - DS18B20, DHT22, DHT12) are used. ESP8266 setup and control as a Wi-Fi Web Server (WiFiManager, OTA, mDNS) allow for easy setup and management. The system receives a message input from a User Input page, then displays the message on a scrolling LED matrix display. Parts List: Six MAX7219 8 x 8 LED Matrix modules are required. One WeMos D1 mini module is necessary. One Interface shield is used. Additional Parts: N DS18B20 temperature sensors can be used. One DHT22 temperature and humidity sensor is required. One DHT12 temperature and humidity sensor is also needed. N WS2812B RGB LEDs can be added for extra lighting effects.
