led-lit snowflake
thingiverse
This decorative snowflake can either be laser cut or three-dimensionally printed. A hole is strategically placed in the center, perfectly sized to accommodate a five-millimeter LED. You might notice the two-twenty-ohm current-limiting resistor in the image (soldered to the cathode of the LED). Similar values will also work for plus-five-volt USB and a white LED. Use smaller values for brighter illumination. For instance, consult [which resistor to use](https://www.evilmadscientist.com/2012/resistors-for-leds/) for guidance.\r\n\r\nThis year, our Christmas tree lights are LEDs, powered by a USB charger.
