RGB LED Light Tube. This style of lights costs way too much commercially and are fairly easy to DIY. Ø40mm white PP tube provides great diffusion Parts: 1x PolyPropylene drainage tube - Outer Diameter Ø40mm, inner ø36mm. (Found at Biltema for the Scandinavians) 1x ESP32 Microcontroller (eBay) 1 meter WS2812B RGB LED Strip (5V, 60LED/m) or your choice of strip 4x M3 6mm Hot Melt Thread Inserts (eBay) 4x M3 8+6mm M-F brass stand-offs 4x M3 6mm screws 1x USB Cable (check your ESP32 for plug type) + USB Charger (5V 1A) 3x Dupont Jumper Wires Software: WLED - https://install.wled.me/ The Top Cap and Cone are snug friction fit with the PP tube. The base is a fairly loose fit with the cone to easily open it up and unplug the USB cable if required. The ESP32 is mounted using hot melt inserts set into the holes in the base. You can simply use a soldering iron to melt them in. 8mm M3 standoffs are added and the ESP32 is screwed down to them. 8mm allows you to not remove the rest of the pin headers. In my case I bent out the required 3 pins 90 degrees. See the photo attached.
