LED Light Strip Mount
thingiverse
LED Light Bar Arm V-Slot This movable arm is designed for a light-bar made using 12V LED strip. When building my Full Bear, Prusa i3, Mk2.5, I decided it would be a good idea to install an LED light strip inside the z-axis extrusions to illuminate the build plate. To minimize glare from the strips in front of my eyes, I placed them inside the extrusions. Using 'waterproof' LED strip with silicone moulding helped prevent any shorts on the aluminum extrusions. This setup worked well but caused numerous shadows and the 2035 LEDs weren't particularly bright. I sourced some 5730 LEDs (I believe) which were much brighter, but as they were wider and enclosed in a silicone tube rather than moulding, they didn't fit inside the extrusion. To utilize this strip and improve the lighting of my bear, I thought that a swinging arm would be the best way to mount them. This would allow me to position them for optimal effect - even allowing me to light the underside of the extruder for cleaning or nozzle changes. After searching on Thingiverse without finding anything suitable, I created this design. It works well for me but there are many improvements that need to be made. I assembled this arm, installed it on my Bear and published pictures of my completed build on Facebook. A few people commented that they would like the STLs so I'm sharing them here.
