I purchased a panel LED light for my projects and while it can be powered by 12v barrel jack, it also accepts a battery (NP-F750/NP-F970). However, these batteries are quite expensive, so I decided to design my own. Initially, I started from scratch, but then a friend pointed me toward the battery adapter from Adafruit, which I used as a base and modified to suit my needs. The lid is a friction fit but could easily be glued if necessary. The case was designed to accommodate four 18650 batteries running in a 2s2p configuration so that the batteries would be at 8.4v when fully charged. I reused cells from dead laptop batteries paired with a 2s BMS. For the terminals, I used a strip of nickel, which I bent into a triangle and then inserted it through the holes in the bottom of the case. When soldering everything together, be sure to note the correct polarity because shorting 18650's is extremely hazardous. The battery adapter can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1181132 This panel LED light is a great project for anyone looking to create their own custom lighting solutions.
