LED light holder Prusa i3 MK3
thingiverse
This is my take on adding LED lights to the Prusa i3 MK3, and it's my first submission to Thingiverse. I designed the parts to fit seamlessly into the original build plan by using M3 nut/bolt combinations just like the printer itself. I also made sure that the LEDs are easily replaceable in case they burn out. When inserting the USB extension into the top portion, make sure it faces the correct direction. Be cautious when putting the assembled top into the base to avoid cracking the stem. Apply the bottom cover just before fully inserting the stem. Supports are not needed for any of the parts except for the two top portions on the build plate, which should be printed with their round sides facing up. You may need to rotate all the parts in your slicer to get them in the correct printing orientation. Print mirror images of both base pieces for the other side of the printer. When installed, set the location and pivot so that the extruder doesn't contact at end points. The additional parts required include: 6 M3 hex nuts 4 M3x12 bolts (top and hanger) 2 M3x18 bolts (bottom) Connect the USB plug 12/24V to 5V to the power supply, ensuring not to mix up the leads. Use a universal waterproof indicator like this one: https://www.amazon.ca/Universal-Waterproof-Indicator-Motorbike-Connection/dp/B01C4IFSZM. For the USB extension, use this product: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01KWOBK84. The LEDs can be found here: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01H36HLAK. Be careful when wiring to avoid damaging your printer or power supply. Use at your own discretion and with your own liability.
