LED light holder for Leica MS5 stereoscope
thingiverse
This file compiles every item needed to manufacture a high-quality LED adapter suitable for Leica MS5 stereoscopes, empowering you to convert your equipment into an advanced fluorescent scope at minimal expense. The design can be easily adapted to various other microscope brands with slight modifications, unlocking flexibility in application. The setup accommodates the simultaneous installation of two distinct filters, allowing users to effortlessly choose between one (or neither) via a slide mechanism integrated into the filter holder. Critical consideration should be given to the selection of an appropriate LED light and associated filter when planning the assembly. Specifically, our observations primarily focus on the presence of green fluorescent protein (GFP) and red fluorescent protein (RFP), prompting us to source complementary LED lights and filters. The acquired LED lights came from Luxeonstar.com and Plasmaled.com at price points ranging from $3 to $15 each. In contrast, the chosen filters originated from Comaoptics.com, falling within a range of $15 to $20 each. The adapter is powered by a reliable 12V, 2A power supply purchased from Amazon, providing consistent performance and extending its overall lifespan. Upon careful selection of both LED lights and optical filters, an effective addition of fluorescence capabilities can be achieved on Leica MS5 stereoscopes within a budgetary range of approximately $40 to $60.
