LED Light Diffuser for 1515 Ally Extrusion
thingiverse
This clip securely holds "5mm" LED strips in the grooves of 1515 extrusion and effectively diffuses light. It can be trimmed to any length using snips, and its utility extends beyond lighting as a handy wire holder, keeping projects tidy and organized. I employed this clip in each vertical bar of my kossel 3d printer, allowing me to visually monitor the printing process. I connected it directly to the power supply via a switch that I designed to conveniently stay attached between the bottom two bars (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3966354). This feature proved particularly useful in minimizing eye strain caused by the occasional flicker during printing. Inserting the clip into the groove requires a moderate amount of force, but starting from one end and using a rounded tool to gently push it along its length makes the process manageable. Once securely fastened, the clip can be easily slid up and down the extrusion. If you find this design too lengthy for your printer, feel free to let me know and I'll create a more compact version. The original design was created using Onshape, making adjustments and improvements relatively straightforward.
