LED Lamps for Original Prusa i3
thingiverse
I crafted these lightweight heads specifically for my Prusa i3Mk2S to deliver a comprehensive spread of light both in front and rear. They are engineered so that you can have light in either the front, back, or both as the individualized light standards allow it. Thin wiring will run through the inside of the light standards and out the mount. There are also utility hooks on the mounts for efficient cable management. I designed the lamp heads to accommodate 12VDC LED automobile dome lights (see photo). Only use supports manually placed underneath the dome. Avoid putting supports inside the tubes at all costs, as you'll have a nightmare trying to remove them. With optimal bridge settings, you should face no difficulties whatsoever. I printed mine in PETG and used high-temperature hot glue to secure the lamps within the heads (CA glue will also work). All parts are held together with CA glue. I made the joints extremely tight, so some sanding or slight adjustments with a scalpel might be necessary for the best fit. I recommend performing a dry fit first, disassembling, running wiring through and soldering it up, then gluing and assembling. Make sure you have the gantry mounts oriented correctly for your specific application; they should attach from the back side to avoid interfering with the X-axis at maximum Z-height.
