LED lamp base for halloween skull lamp
thingiverse
I printed Shiuan's Halloween skull lamp online from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:513684, and I decided to create a base for it using some LED lights and resistors. I had the materials available so I went ahead and made a simple base that houses them. Hopefully, you like it! I have included step-by-step instructions below. Instructions: To build my glow in the dark PLA lamp base at 0.4 layer height and 50% fill setting with good results, simply follow these steps. First, use thirty-three 5mm white LED lights, which operate within a 3.2 to 3.8-volt forward voltage range and handle twenty to thirty milliamperes of current respectively, while your power source provides twelve DC volts. This information can also be determined using the helpful site at http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz for better reference. Take note that fitting all these connections inside was a bit of a tight squeeze due to the design constraints I had for keeping the overall thickness of my lamp slim. Nevertheless, it looks beautiful! To secure any electrical mishaps, I applied hot glue over all wiring once it had been thoroughly tested beforehand. Furthermore, to make certain no shorts would develop down the line from excess moisture entering in through the backside where a thick burlap or felt layer would have made contact - which would undoubtedly have resulted in immediate failure; instead spray-adhesived that exact same portion effectively protecting against such occurrences for all eternity going forward. A crucial reminder here, though not immediately relevant but necessary nonetheless, exercise extreme caution when tackling electrical work as outlined above without proper experience – better judgment calls should indeed always be used prior embarking onto endeavors beyond ones immediate grasp in these specific situations where potential life endangerment might indeed arise from unsafe choices or ignorance relating electrical safety principles and application best practices throughout entire course work including but certainly not limited too setup configuration design optimization considerations alike which will most assuredly yield safer operational systems end users can depend upon
