LED edge clock WLED version
thingiverse
I collaborated with NeariX67 on a customized version of WLED, specifically designed for creating a functional clock display. If you're new to WLED, I recommend checking it out here. https://github.com/Aircoookie/WLED This adaptation utilizes an effect that generates the clock face interface. You can find more information about this modified version at https://github.com/NeariX67/WLED_Clock. I opted for a segmented approach with five LEDs per digit, and this customized WLED was developed to accommodate these numbers seamlessly. The entire clock display features 115 LEDs, while an additional 12 LEDs are dedicated to the downlights, resulting in a total of 127 LEDs. With this modified firmware, I successfully loaded it onto a D1mini esp8266 module, taking advantage of WLED's integration with Home Assistant https://www.home-assistant.io/. This enables me to control the brightness levels based on either the room lights or the sun's location. Moreover, I can set up an automation to automatically turn off the clock during our sleep hours. I'm currently working on completing the covers for this project, but I've made sure to release the software initially so that users can create their own custom clocks without incurring additional costs – a clear jab at Blynk's pricing model. Once I've completed the covers, I'll be sharing updated photos of the project. For those interested in getting more details about this project, I recommend checking out the original post https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4207524 and watching the accompanying video for a comprehensive understanding.
