LED Eddie

LED Eddie

I brought a new team member to the office recently, and a friend suggested that Eddie would be perfect for standing proudly on my desktop. I chose to tackle this complex STL model, spending hours to transform it into a one-of-a-kind lamp as a Christmas gift. First, I simplified the mesh to make it easier to work with. Next, I made the design hollow and added sockets to hold 5mm LED's in place for the brain, eyes, and neck. To give it an extra touch of personality, I also added a socket with "Iron Maiden" engraved on it, which would be illuminated when powered. However, I struggled to remove the supports from the eye-sockets, so I ended up gluing 3mm LED's directly into them instead. The final result was a unique and functional lamp that showcased my creativity and attention to detail. To power this impressive lamp, I used a combination of 3 & 5mm LED's, a 5V LED-strip to illuminate the "Iron Maiden" logo, and a USB-cable with a convenient power-switch.
