A Simple LED Light Defuser for Winter Solstice or General Fun. This DIY project can be used to create a mesmerizing display of light patterns and effects during the winter solstice or other special occasions. The base features five holes, each perfectly sized for a 3mm LED light, allowing you to connect them to a Raspberry PI to create an array of dazzling displays. To see this defuser in action, check out the video clip here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRdY6kGnK24. The creator has successfully controlled a set of LED lights using a Raspberry Pi Zero W, resulting in a stunning display that's sure to impress. The reason for choosing five LEDs is rooted in color theory. By combining red, blue, green, white, and yellow LEDs, you can create a wide range of colors by mixing and matching different combinations. This defuser comes equipped with one of each, allowing you to experiment with various hues and effects. However, please note that the LED holes may be slightly smaller than expected due to an early design iteration's geometry being 3.1mm in diameter. Depending on your 3D printer's calibration, you might encounter varying results. The defuser is designed to accommodate clear or natural PLA filaments, but feel free to experiment with other transparent or translucent materials for a unique look. The Raspberry PI code can be found on GitHub at https://github.com/mrncmoose/winter-solstice-lights. Enjoy your DIY LED light display!
