Led Clip
thingiverse
This is a clever LED light perfect for reading books. I designed this for my daughter who always complains about not having enough light to read. It runs on two small button-type batteries, which power the LEDs. To make the flexible stick, I used a piece of 4 mm copper wire and transformed it into bipolar by removing five copper threads and replacing them with a single insulated thread from a standard UTP-5 cable. You'll need some WD-40 and plenty of patience to slide the new wire in place, but it's definitely doable. With one of the removed threads, I created the connector for both batteries by rolling both ends. For the hinge, I used an office pin with the tip stripped out. You can personalize the text that appears on the clip by editing the FreeCad model and changing the text in the "ShapeString" object (which belongs to the "Clip" part). You'll also need to select a valid font from your file system. The FCStd and STL files are included, along with an STL file featuring a "Name" text. For now, it lacks a functional on-off switch, which is quite important. I'm working on it and will update this thing as soon as it's finished. More pictures and the finished model will be available soon.
