To enhance illumination in my Prusa Mendel's build area, I utilized spare white LEDs from a recent LOLshield project. The designed bracket can accommodate six small (3mm) LEDs and attaches to the rear of the Prusa Mendel X carriage, utilizing extra headroom on M3 bolts. After printing it with 1 extra shell per setting and 0.2 infill, I inserted the LEDs, soldered them in series, wired the sets in parallel, added a 1K current-limiting resistor in series with GND, and connected to the 12V line via a molex-fan adapter. However, for non-white LEDs with lower voltage drops, it's advisable to wire all six in series. The bracket is securely fastened under the X-carriage using the X carriage belt clip bolts and two M3 nuts. Note that I assume no liability for blown LEDs due to variations in performance (YMMV).
