Leatherman Bit Extension

Leatherman Bit Extension

thingiverse

This was created to replace the one I lost for my Leatherman Charge TTi, fitting nice and snug with a surprisingly strong feel. The original design had a critical weakness in holding the bit, so it was redesigned into two parts. There is now a "belt" that press fits over the bit socket portion, which should be printed with the layer grain at a 90-degree angle to the extension itself. The belt fully solves the inherent weakness and I've been using this new version for months. I printed this solid with a brim and a 90-degree rotation on the X axis at 0.2 layer height. If printing V2, print the extension as above and the belt such that the loops are each a layer, with the grain of the print at a 90-degree angle relative to the extension. As soon as the belt is finished, press fit it onto the extension while still warm and slightly flexible. The socket is very tight, so light sanding may be required for easy removal of the bits, and the portion of the extension that inserts into the Leatherman could benefit from some light sanding.
