Leather Stretcher, used for shoe making

Potts of St. James Street in Derby employed this leather stretcher as part of their shoe cobbling process. Two leather plates are placed inside the shoe, then a screw mechanism is used to move them apart, stretching the leather to the desired size and shape. This image was produced by our volunteers in collaboration.
