Leather Cross Imprint Stamp

<p>My dad made me a leather bracelet quite some time ago with a cross imprinted on it. Shortly after he passed away, the snap on the bracelet pulled through the leather. I hated that I couldn't wear this anymore. Then, a few weeks ago, I saw someone (either here or on instructibles) that had 3d printed a stamp to imprint leather. Well... I just had to try that! Low and behold, it worked like a charm! Now, all I have to do is cut me some leather and make a new bracelet in my dad's honor.</p> <p>Even if you don't like this design, maybe this will give you the incentive or idea to make your own design.</p> <p>In the images, you can see the original design - the darker leather - and my version. This will soften the leather so that it can take the design. Using a vice (or a press, but I found the vice offered more equal pressure across the whole design), sandwich together a heavy piece of metal, your leather, the stamp (with the image facing the leather obviously), and another piece of metal - in that order - and clamp tightly. Don't tighten it too tight, though - remember that this stamp isn't metal and too much pressure can break it. Let that whole assembly dry over night. When you unclamp everything, the image will be pressed into the leather.</p> </p></p> Category: Art Tools
