This is a 3D scan of one pair of exquisite leather high heel boots, showcased at the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences. Crafted by an unknown English cobbler between 1870-1875 as prize work, these boots were created to demonstrate exceptional shoemaking skills rather than for everyday wear. They didn't conform to contemporary fashion standards.\nFind out more on our website.\n\n \n \n Background\nThe Museum scanned ten objects in 3D for Hack the Collection, a public program during the 2014 Sydney Design Festival, which paired ten contemporary Sydney designers with ten objects from the Museum's collection. \nDesigners spent two intense days at the Festival FabLab, creatively manipulating 3D object files to design their own hacked interpretations while onlookers watched with enthusiasm. At the event's conclusion, the designers' remixed objects were 3D printed on MakerBots and displayed alongside their original counterparts.\nWe view our collection as a treasure trove of inspiration waiting to be tapped. We invite you to download and remix our collection, taking it in bold new directions. Share your creative reinterpretations with us – we'd love to see the innovative forms and uses you bring to life!
