Leather belt buckle
thingiverse
This is a basic design for attaching to a leather belt where the end folds back on itself and is secured by riveted snaps. My main goals were simplicity and strength, with the added benefit of printing quickly. The components are oriented on the print bed for maximum structural integrity. The belt this design was created for measures 38mm tall, but you can adjust the height value in the OpenSCAD code to accommodate belts of varying sizes. The face plate is a square, blank canvas waiting for user designs. Update: I've added a buckle featuring a Hilbert curve design inspired by Fractal Music Box on Thingiverse, created by jbum. If you're curious about PLA's durability in this application, after three and a half months of daily use during autumn and winter, the buckle itself shows no signs of wear. However, the belt side of the attachment loop appears slightly bowed outward, but it doesn't seem to be failing yet.
