The original design of the Leapfrog Xeed's stock filament feeder suggests it was intended for use with 2.85mm filament and a MK7 drive system. However, my 2015 model Xeed came pre-set for 1.75mm filament. To accommodate both filament sizes, I modified the design to shift the filament path 1mm toward the drive gear. This allows me to insert a 2mm hex key without touching the drive gear. The stock feeder lacks any mechanism to constrain the filament path within the feeder itself. I attempted to implement some constraint using aluminum cylinders. I replaced the M5 threads used on the stock feeder with E3D bowden tube connectors for better durability and performance. On my workbench, I'm able to feed semi-flexible filament through the system with ease using the knobs, although I haven't yet tested it in a print.
