Leapfrog Creatr XL uppgrade, bigger build volume
myminifactory
PS: Don't attempt this unless you're absolutely sure of what you're doing! This modification significantly alters the original machine setup. A part cooling fan dramatically enhances print quality. I've owned a LeapFrog printer for ages, and it's always bothered me that dual extruders restricted my use of the full build plate. This upgrade maximizes the usable size of the build platform, allowing for increased versatility. The new build volume is x-278 y-335 z-576 (-1.4cm height), resulting in a major print quality improvement. To complete this upgrade, you'll need several key components: * 4 IGUS RJUM-01-12 slide bearings * An E3D V5 hot end assembly * A 20mm cooling fan for the hot end (model 3010) * A 50mm radial centrifugal fan * New firmware to be flashed onto the controller * A longer x-axis timing belt * Some 3mm threaded rod * To modify the left-hand front-bearing mount on the y-axis * A smaller end bearing for the right-hand bearing block When assembling the upgrade, ensure you use the end chain for the power chain on the x-axis carriage to prevent jamming in the rear right corner of the printer. The entire hotend assembly slides off easily; simply attach it at the top with a wide-head short wood screw.
