The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies was established on May 5th, 1919, in Paris, with a mission to redirect the enhanced capabilities developed by National Societies during World War I towards addressing peacetime challenges: combating diseases, providing disaster relief, fighting hunger and poverty, and promoting global understanding, particularly among young people.
