Stephen Duncan's captivating sculpture took root while he was studying at the British School in Rome. There, he immersed himself in casting the massive Acanthus leaves that sprout from every corner of the ancient Forum, often topping classical columns as a powerful emblem of eternal life. The profound connection between leaf and human anatomy resonated deeply with Duncan - how leaves can be likened to having a body complete with a spine, ribs, and veins. "I'm drawn to the sensuality of leaves," he explains, "and the parallels we can draw between their skin-like surfaces and our own." The Arcadia Series, which showcases this unique work, won top honors at Milan's MIART and has since been widely exhibited in the UK, including a showcase at London's Tate Modern.
