Lead Weight Spinner

Lead Weight Spinner

cults3d

This is a from-scratch design, so not really a remix, but is heavily inspired by berkey93's very nice Pulsar Spinner with embedded hex nuts: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2108748 My four year old son can't play with the fidget spinner that he was given because his hands are too small for it to rotate past his palm, so i wanted to make something smaller. Additionally, I have always thought the traditional "tri-spinner" with the four outer bearings was really a waste of bearings, since the outer ones were used for nothing more than rotational mass. I whipped up this spinner that uses lead weights for rotational mass. It uses a 608 skate bearing for the center axis and uses the simple rectangular lead weights that you can buy at any hobbyshop (or amazon) because I do not have time to melt lead into a custom shape. The lead weights are smaller than 608 bearings, so I was able to get the overall diameter down to 58mm, which is just small enough to allow my son to play with it. In order to get it down to this size, it uses only 4 lead weights. I also made a 6 and 8 weight version. The weights are embedded in the spinner, so pause your print just before the ceiling of the weight cavities prints, insert the weights, and resume the print. The ceiling is at z=5.90mm. I'm not going to go into how to pause at the right point becasue you either already know or you can look it up (M600, Prusa colorprint, etc). If you want to print center caps for the main bearing, I recommend the same as berkey93: 2ROBOTGUY's very nice twist caps here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1802260 Here are some lead weights that will fit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0015KLJE0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 As always, i have included the native Solidworks files so you can edit to your heart's content
