LEA 6H GPS Case

LEA 6H GPS Case

thingiverse

This is a design I came up with for the LEA 6H GPS, which normally comes equipped with a 3DR ArduPilot system. The case itself weighs in at just 29 grams. It slides easily into place inside the bottom compartment and is held securely by the lid on top. I recommend adding foam around where the cable exits to prevent friction and rubbing against other components. This extra cushioning also provides an added safety feature if you accidentally pull or tug on the cable. I chose a round design primarily because it allows for easy attachment of screws while providing a visually appealing finish. The material was carefully trimmed from the lid to reduce weight, but I made sure to leave just enough to accommodate the LED lights on the GPS unit. For an alternative option, consider attaching thin clear plastic beneath the lid if you prefer a closed-case look. The print settings that work best for my design are as follows: three perimeter walls with 5% fill density and a height of 0.3mm. However, feel free to adjust these parameters for a more refined result by lowering the layer thickness to either 0.2mm or even 0.1mm. To assemble your own LEA GPS system case, I suggest attaching it securely onto a piece of CF rod via a round servo horn. This can be done using double-sided tape and has proven itself durable in real-world applications. I've put this design to use successfully on two separate drones with no issues whatsoever.
