This larger-than-life sculpture, titled "Le Réveil" or reawakening in French, portrays a nude female stretching as if rising from slumber. Laurent-Honoré Marqueste was born in Toulouse and worked as a sculptor within the neo-Baroque Beaux-Arts style. He gained fame for his extensive collection of allegorical figurative sculptures like "Perseus Slaying Medusa" and "The Centaur and Deianira".
