Le prieuré, Muron (17) - 2
sketchfab
A 350 square meter excavation is conducted following the project of building a single-family home in Muron village (17), about ten meters south of the current church. In 2016, the diagnosis revealed burials in sarcophagi and full ground, as well as masonry and hollow structures. After the operation, 84 high medieval burials were studied. This cemetery follows an ancient occupation, with some remaining masonry and fill levels. Among the 84 inhumations, dated to the Merovingian and Carolingian period, 42 are in calcareous trapezoidal sarcophagi, 41 in full ground or carved into natural limestone (with or without arrangements) and one under a tile.
