Le prieuré, Muron (17) - 1

This excavation of 350 square meters is taking place following the construction project for a single-family home in Muron village (17), about ten meters south of the current church. The diagnosis conducted in 2016 allowed for the discovery of burials in sarcophagi and earth, as well as masonry and hollow structures. Upon completion of the operation, 84 High Middle Age burials were able to be studied. This cemetery follows an ancient occupation from which some masonry and fill levels remain. Among the 84 interments, dated from the Merovingian and Carolingian period, 42 are in calcareous trapezoidal sarcophagi, 41 in earth or dug into natural limestone (with or without arrangements) and one under a tile.
