Marcel Aymé, born in the Yonne region, spent most of his life in Montmartre on Rue Norvins. As a result, he located much of his novels within this neighborhood. In a short story called "The Wall Walker," Dutilleul, a humble office worker at the Ministry of Registration living in Montmartre, discovers one evening that he has the power to walk through walls. Initially, he uses this ability to retaliate against humiliations at work, then commits burglaries and becomes wealthy before being imprisoned and ... escaping! Falling in love with a beautiful woman he meets on Rue Lepic, he walks through walls to find her despite his jealous husband's disapproval, until the day he loses his gift and remains permanently fixed inside a wall on Rue Norvins. Jean Marais, a French actor and sculptor, immortalized the Wall Walker in 1989 by carving a mural outside Marcel Aymé's home. Source : http://www.montmartre-guide.com
