Roseline Granet, a French sculptor born in Paris on January 28, 1936, studied at the Art Students League of New York in 1954. She then pursued her artistic studies at the Atelier Zadkine and the Academy of the Grande Chaumiere in Paris from 1956 to 1959. There, she met fellow artists Sam Szafran, a draftsman and future pastelist, and Jacques Delahaye, a sculptor who encouraged Granet to establish the Fonderie Clementi in Meudon in 1960. Since then, she has worked on her sculpture at this location, just steps from Auguste Rodin's studio. Her works were showcased in various exhibitions at the Darthea Gallery Speyer in Paris's 6th arrondissement in 2004. This larger-than-life piece is iconic of Granet's work; subject matter is always figurative and in motion, often depicting people in couples in fantastical situations through levitation or running. The pieces showcase Granet's ability to capture such themes in sculpture, seemingly defying balance, symmetry, and gravity laws.
