This masterpiece was crafted by the renowned French sculptor Eugène Dodeigne, born on July 27, 1923, in Rouvreux, a quaint village near Liège in Belgium. From the tender age of 13, Eugene honed his skills as a stonecutter under the watchful eye of his father in their family workshop. After perfecting his drawing and modeling techniques in Tourcoing and the prestigious Ecole des Beaux - Arts in Paris, he further refined his craft in the esteemed workshop of Marcel Gimond. In 1950, Dodeigne relocated to Bondues, where he began to establish himself as a talented sculptor. His debut solo exhibition at the Marcel Evrard gallery in Lille took place in 1953, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career. As a wood sculptor until 1955, Eugene skillfully manipulated knots and natural imperfections, always respecting the inherent identity of the material. However, from 1955 onward, he transitioned to working with stone, which would become the cornerstone of his artistic expression. He subsequently employed an array of materials, including Soignies blue-gray granite, Massangis beige-yellow stone, Carrara marble, and even lava, which he sourced in small quantities from Volvic in the 1960s. This captivating sculpture is part of "Scan The World", a groundbreaking non-profit initiative spearheaded by MyMiniFactory. Through this innovative project, we are creating a comprehensive digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the world, making them freely accessible to the public.
