The LE-7A Engine Photogrammetry Scan Unveiled \nThe LE-7 and its upgraded model, the LE-7A, are staged combustion cycle LH2/LOX liquid rocket engines designed and built in Japan for use with the H-II series of launch vehicles. A collaborative effort between the National Space Development Agency (NASDA), Aerospace Engineering Laboratory (NAL), Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and Ishikawajima-Harima led to the creation of this first major domestically produced main-stage liquid rocket engine. Although NASDA and NAL have since merged into JAXA, a significant portion of the work was subcontracted to Mitsubishi, while Ishikawajima-Harima provided turbomachinery components. As a result, the LE-7(A) is often referred to as the Mitsubishi LE-7A.
