The Large-Diameter Application Starshade (LDAS) is based on the HabEx design, with modifications to the Astromesh truss structure and petal design to minimize weight. LDAS replaces the Astromesh truss with a passively deployed composite tube structure, attached to the center spacecraft cylinder by stainless steel cables.
