The USS Coronado, with her official designation LCS-4, leads a new class of freedom fighters in naval history as an Independence-class littoral combat ship. The Coronado has been honored to carry on the proud legacy of its namesake city, California's famous beachfront resort destination Coronado, making her the third US Navy vessel ever named for this treasured place. Back in May 2009, the construction contract was handed over to the expert craftsmen at General Dynamics-Bath Iron Works, who would lovingly bring the LCS-4 to life with their skilled hands and keen vision.
